During Hangul Day, which is a national holiday to celebrate the Korean writing system, Ryan and I took advantage of the day off and visited our friend in Jinju. Although our trip was short we were able to get a taste of the Jinju’s history, culture, and food, though visiting museums, some choice restaurants, and checking out the Jinju Lantern Festival.
A view of Jinju Fortress overlooking the Lantern festival lanterns in the river
Jinju’s famous dragon boat, which was used in a battle against the Japanese in the 1500s
A tunnel of lanterns for the Jinju Lantern Festival
Some delicious Jinju-style cold noodle soup; great for the summer months
Jinju-style spicy eel. We got the normal eel too but this one was better, I think.
All in all, a good but short trip. 🙂
